Australian Bay Lobster

Bay Lobster are colloquially known as ‘Moreton Bay bugs’ in Australia. ABLP offer premium wild caught and farmed Bay Lobster, and other select seafood products.

Chris is the skipper and fisherman on every fishing trip. His line caught fish are killed instantly and humanely using the ike-jime method. Fish are bled well and immediately placed into a salt ice brine to bring their temperature down to 2oC.  Once this is achieved, every fish is gently hand-packed, one by one into custom-made fibreglass eskies.

Only small quantities of fish are caught, and fishing time is short - rarely more than 24 hours fishing before returning to port. On return, the boat is hauled onto a trailer. The catch is driven right to the door of our purpose-built cold room and packing facility.  Fish are unloaded from the boat and immediately packed for transport, with minimal handling and time. 

Chris Bolton Fishing is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) reef guardian program.  The reef guardian program recognises the positive environmental work undertaken by communities and industries to protect the Great Barrier Reef.   The program involves working closely with those who use and rely on the Great Barrier Reef for recreation or business, to help build a healthier, more resilient reef system.

Chris Bolton Fishing won the ‘From the Sea’ category in the 2019 delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards for wild caught red emperor as well as a gold medallist in the 2019 delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards for seasonal catch – 5 spot garfish.  Chris is always looking for new and different ways to get the most out of his product.

Dinko Tuna 

Eyre Peninsula, SA

Our sustainable sashimi grade Southern Bluefin Tuna is ocean fresh, wild caught and sustainably harvested from the Eyre Peninsula region of South Australia. 

Les and Lyn Apps are pioneers of the Queensland spanner crab fishery. 

Starting out in the late ’80s as a two-person operation they slowly built their business until by the early 2000s they had the largest spanner crab exporting business in the world. By 2007 Les and Lyn were ready to try new things so they sold up and moved on. They couldn’t stay away for long though and a few years later they were back, this time launching Aussie Red Crab Pty Ltd and the Fraser Isle Spanner Crab brand.

Today Aussie Red Crab is a robust and vertically integrated production, owning and fishing the largest single percentage of the Queensland spanner crab quota, and encompassing several fishing vessels, an unloading wharf, live tank system and processing factory.

Aussie Red Crab maintains their supply of superior quality spanner crabs by ensuring that all aspects of the fishery are promoting excellence. The company philosophy is that everyone involved in the spanner crab fishery supply chain, from deckhand through to processing worker, are fairly rewarded for their work so that only the best quality crab is caught and sold under the Fraser Isle Spanner Crab brand.

Protecting and maintaining the marine environment surrounding the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Fraser Island is a top priority. The fishery was one of the first to be certified sustainable under the 1999 Biodiversity and Environment Protection Act and has since been recognised by environmental groups as having a zero by-catch and zero effect on the seafloor. By integrating sustainable business and environmental practices we are working to ensure that the world can enjoy the distinctive and delicious flavours of Fraser Isle Spanner Crab for many years to come.

THE PRODUCT

Spanner crab is truly delicious. It has a unique flavor – sweet and with a firm flesh – and is so versatile it should be a staple in every kitchen.

Leeuwin Coast Rock Oysters 

Albany’s flora heavily influences the organic food sources of our rock oysters, giving layers of complexity that are completely unique to southern Western Australia. Our Rock Oysters are currently busy growing in Oyster Harbour and will be ready for harvest in late 2022. Check back then for an update.

Australia's First Certified Carbon Neutral Aquaculture Products

Seaweedery was launched in 2020 by chef and sustainable food system advocate Elke Travers and business strategist Natalie Kalinova. The co-founders' passion for Australian seafood and sustainability brought them together, with a shared desire to address issues that exist both in our diet and the broader supply chain.

With the intention to start small, Seaweedery began developing an idea that would transform seafood processing waste into a brand-new value-added product. The startup joined forces with Austral Fisheries, an MSC-certified and carbon-neutral seafood business, to explore opportunities for transforming seafood waste into viable products. Under Austral Fisheries’ Seafood for Good program, Seaweedery pitched what would eventually become their first product: prawn oil. 

Along with its signature prawn oil, Seaweedery offers an innovative vinegar product developed from a blend of Australian golden kelp and apple cider vinegar.

The Prawn Store is operated from  Port Lincoln in  South Australia by the Tapley family, who have over 40 years experience in the fishing industry. Their passion to practice sustainable fishing methods and deliver quality produce to consumers is paramount for them and their business. 

The Prawn Store is proud to be one of 39 Licence holders in The Spencer Gulf King Prawn Association, which has  Marine Stewardship Certification. 

The flavour and quality of the prawns sold by The Prawn Store is a reflection of the pristine, cold waters of the Spencer Gulf, as well as the fact they are wild caught and certified sustainable. 

The family operated business sells directly to consumers through pop-up stores and farmers’ markets, as well as wholesale distribution.
They sell cooked or uncooked products in various sizes and offer cooking instructions and complimentary recipe cards with each purchase.

Their Absolute Kings are snap frozen on the boat then carefully packaged in royal blue 1kg or 5kg boxes - ready to enjoy in the convenience of your home,or given as a gift.

The Prawn Store has been operating since March 2020 and has been named as a Finalist in the Premier’s Food and Beverage Industry Awards.
