With their 140 acres of rich red basalt soil, in a beautiful location in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Phil and Lisa set about creating a farm to produce the best produce possible. And of course, that meant it would be organic.

“I had no idea what I was doing,” says Phil. “I used to go to the Burrawang pub to ask for advice. There’s nothing more exciting to a bunch of half-tanked guys than a bogged tractor.”

Despite some trials and failures – like half a paddock of purple potatoes no one bought – Moonacres is now thriving, and supplies some of Sydney’s and regional NSW’s best restaurants (see below), and sells at a number of markets. Local customers can also get Moonacres produce delivered to their door (see below).

As well as producing the best tasting fruit and veggies sought by Sydney’s top chefs, Phil runs Moonacres as a working example of the future of farming and is a fierce advocate for the protection of the land. “Our soil is disappearing. It’s poisoned, trampled, filled with salt, drained of nutrients. The soil is like a balloon stretched to its thinnest – and that thin layer sustains everything. When it all blows away, what are we going to eat?”

Whenever you eat Moonacres produce, you can be confident that everything in the chain has been looked after and treated ethically – from the soil, to the truck driver who delivered it. And that’s what makes Moonacres produce taste so good.

“Just taste an apple that’s been looked after,” says Phil. “That’s all I want you to do.”

Located in the Southern Highlands of NSW,  Moonacres Farm is committed to the ethical production of the best quality food from farm to table.

Morella Grove was established by the Dal Bon family. We are a second and third generation Father and daughter team. Farming is our livelihood and our passion. We love seeing the enjoyment people get from our products.

Our olives are traditionally grown by replicating the Mediterranean method and its climate. The clean environment, bright blue skies and fertile soils of the Riverina, NSW allow us to grow our olives chemically free using the best and most sustainable environmental practices

We use the beautiful Spanish variety tree called the Arbequina and the delicious Tuscan Italian variety Frantoio.

To achieve the Award-Winning quality, we personally oversee the entire process throughout the season. The olives are harvested in May then processed, stored and bottled using the worlds best technology to achieve a standard of excellence that guarantees consistent quality.

The entire process of growing, harvesting, pressing, and bottling is managed and overseen by the Dal Bon family; The Grower - paddock to plate.

To complement our outstanding extra virgin olive oil we offer drizzles, dressings, balsamics, jams and other condiments. All our products are sourced locally and made fresh in small batches.

Morella Grove is a family-owned and operated business from the Riverina producing award-winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a delicious range of gourmet condiments.

Planted in the 1940's, The Mount Zero Olive Grove is one of oldest olive groves in Australia.

The Farm
A total of 6000 Spanish Manzanilla and Gordal Olive trees line the base of the Grampians most northern summit - Mount Zero. Here we practice biodynamic farming techniques and have the international Demeter certification. The grove is self-sustaining in its farming practices - feeding the trees directly from the soil humus rather than chemical inputs and our energy supply is sourced from off-grid wind and solar generators.

What we harvest is of huge importance to us but how we harvest is even more important. Ethical and sustainable harvest is a current buzzword in the world of food and produce but we've built a brand over the past 20 years based on respect to the environment, the people of our region and the customers that consume our goods.

Our Mount Zero olive grove is Demeter certified Bio-dynamic practicing a holistic and chemical free approach to growing. We endeavour to grow and source as much organic produce as possible as we strongly believe that less is more in the treatment of edible goods.

We are Andrew and Therese Hearne, who left Sydney in 2007 to follow our dream of being farmers and landed at Near River. Expanding on our horticulture skills, the first two pigs arrived in 2012 - we  liked the pigs and the pigs liked us.

Since then the learning curve has been steep though enjoyable, and today 18 sows call Near River home.

We take pride in the care we give our animals, having a hand in not only raising them, also in the transport to processing, and then delivery to our butchers, chefs and customers.

Our efforts have been recognised with our pork winning State delicious. Produce Awards in 2020, 2018 and 2016.

Near River Produce

Growers of award winning rare breed pasture raised pork in the pristine hinterland of the NSW Mid North Coast.

As well as being 5th generation farmers and leading Australian lamb producers, we are also the creator of premium, farm fresh, gourmet lamb sausage rolls and pies.  

We make these baked goods from our own single origin, pasture raised lamb. Everything is manufactured by artisan bakers in our small regional community in central NSW. 

Outback Lamb’s lamb pies and sausage rolls are simple and delicious, made using our own premium lamb and quality ingredients. They are full of flavour and free from preservative.

Outback Lamb

Central, NSW

At Outback Lamb we make premium, gourmet lamb sausage rolls and lamb pies with produce  sourced directly from our farm in central NSW.

Owl Farm is nestled at the foot of the Budawang Ranges east of Braidwood. Sarah and David have a commitment to regenerative farming practices and want to be part of a better story for our planet. 

Sarah and David are soil farmers with a philosophy that if their soil is healthy then so is their produce. Our goal is to increase our land’s water holding capacity and soil microbiology - our most important livestock are earthworms. Owl Farm is managed with minimal tillage and a focus on organic and biodynamic principles. We essentially farm with a wheelbarrow and plant, weed, irrigate, harvest, grade and pack our produce by hand.

On the 46-hectare property they have a small herd of grass fed Angus and Hereford cattle and grow seasonal produce without chemicals on about one hectare. Their aim is to authentically grow food our grandparents would recognise. They grow nutrient dense produce by the kilo not the tonne to maintain quality. 

In 2019 Owl Farm were NSW From the Earth winners in the delicious. Harvey Norman awards for their gourmet, heirloom potatoes.

Owl Farm grows early and mid season garlic (Monaro Purple, Printanor), several different potato varieties (including Burgundy Blush, Purple Congo, La Ratte), heirloom pumpkins (including red Kuri, Kurijan, Rouge Vif d’Etampes, Musque de Provence), over 15 cultivars of radicchio (including Castelfranco, di Lusia, Treviso, Rosa) and a wide variety of other vegetables from asparagus to zucchini. Our radicchio seeds are sourced from a boutique plant breeder near Venice, Italy.
