Lucy is a partner in Straight To The Source; the project manager of the annual delicious. Produce Awards; and, co-founder of Australia’s most prestigious hospitality industry awards program, Appetite for Excellence.

 

With over 20 years experience in the food industry, Lucy’s career highlights include owning and managing three award-winning restaurants in Sydney, Australia with business partner and chef, Luke Mangan; being invited to present a dinner at the prestigious James Beard Foundation in New York; and, co-founding the not-for-profit Appetite for Excellence, a highly regarded national restaurant industry awards program that recognises and rewards emerging talent with awards for outstanding young chefs, waiters and restaurateurs.

 

As Project Manager of the delicious. Produce Awards, a role she has held for the past 9 years, Lucy works with Australia’s leading chefs and restaurateurs such as Matt Moran, Maggie Beer, Neil Perry, Shannon Bennett, Andrew McConnell and Alla Wolf-Tasker to unearth and celebrate Australia’s finest producers and produce.

 

Lucy participates regularly in globally recognised Australian food events, such as Margaret River Gourmet Escape, Noosa Food & Wine Festival and Food & Words, as a panellist, MC and host of topical food-related panel discussions. Highlights include curating and hosting ‘Consuming Conversations’ at Margaret River Gourmet Escape, a compilation of thought-provoking panel discussions around food culture today with internationally renowned food industry legends, such as Marco Pierre White, Rick Stein, Andrea Petrini, Ashley Palmer-Watts, David Thompson and Mark Best.

 

Lucy is an advocate for the hospitality industry as a sustainable career choice, for young industry professionals, for regional food producers and for the Australian food industry, and brings a wealth of experience and industry insider’s knowledge and contacts to the projects she is involved with.
